Pints and Crowns
Getting priorities right?
So it looks really likely that we are going to get old 'imperial' pint crowns back on beer glasses served in pubs and restuarants. A bigger victory over reason, is that our Passports will be dark blue rather than the EU maroon. So lets 'rejoice' at that news.
Back to reality, it looks like our disintegration from our 'friend's' over the channel is going as expected. And one has to wonder slightly if our supply problems and other problems like the lack of HGV drivers are actually caused by leaving the EU? Who knows, who knows? All I hope is that we sort out our 'maladies' and somehow I think that some of these situations will be sorted out post Covid.
Last year was one of those years where you felt like you were riding a Roller Coaster we experienced ups and downs and felt sick to the stomach to see our country almost brought to its knees. In the book by H.G. Wells, The War of the Worlds bacteria and viruses killed our foe, the Martians. Going back to reality now a virus is doing its worst by taking so many people far too early, and it is interesting to note that it was science that helped defeat an ingenious and devious foe. Conspiracy theorists should note that absolute fact. I would argue that without science the death toll could have been far higher than the 'Spanish Flu' outbreak of 1918, when a mutation of the H1N1 influenza virus killed allegedly 100 million people in successive waves of evil. Science has proved to be the one thing that has kept our collective heads above water. In the words of the late lamented Ian Drury, there ain't have been some clever bastards. Science is to be absolutely commended. And the brave people who served our nation in a time of need the National Health Service are true heroes. Life is precious, we should never forget that. All life is precious.
