Stand Fast!
A tale of woe...
A plethora of 'Clever' Bastards!
As the late great Ian Dury once sang, 'there ain't half been some clever bastards'. Perhaps, perhaps? A more 'apposite' word to use in these turbulent times might be cunning instead of clever. All of us look on, aghast, watching as the world moves towards hell on a handcart?
We see things that globalists and theorists of that ilk thought had been consigned to the dustbin of history. Sadly, human nature has never changed, and the notion of the nation state, a fervent form of tribalism, and historical introspection is spreading like a 'political' contagion. Some of us watch as a gang of oligarchs destroy personal liberty, destroying protection that you could (tenously) say dates back to the signing of the Magna Carta? The mob of Union Flag waving cacocrats has leadership perhaps? Yes, it does it is all led by a leader, called Cupid Stunt. At least that's what I think I heard? These days my hearing is not that good.
On our little island, a nationalism that really never existed, is being played out like a giant game of Monopoly and the gap between rich and poor is no longer a gap but a deep chasm of despair and hopelessness, those who have a meagre existence, are being fed a delusion. Our collective past is certainly a murky one, and we should not retreat into an England that never really existed. Our gangsters, our 'English Oligarchs' must stop hiding behind the Union Flag you are not worthy. Our flag doesn't need to be grasped by the likes of you. I fear soon that we shall start burning the books, and if people are deluded further by our leaders, then we may experience our own night of broken glass. Difference and exceptionalism, in the personal sphere, may become a dangerous trait.
It is clear that bullies and 'gangsters' love this electric soup of international relations. Actions that we thought could never happen, in Europe at least, are still prevalent. Globalism and Laissez-faire capitalism have given birth to a monster. We birthed the likes of Putin, and we took our eye off the ball. It's going to be the toughest situation we have faced since the end of the Second World War. So anyone with a backbone should stand firm!
And having a place by the seaside is no panacea for whatever ails you. Trust me I know...
